As you will see in the piece, the people are drawn in a rough sketch which notes our rough edges as humans with faults, imperfections, and sin. There is a variety of skin tones represented as we are all one family.Jesus on the other hand is larger, meant to be larger than life, and was drawn with a smoother stroke and has blended shadows. This is to create the feel of ease, peace, and calm. He is with the protestors as they march for progressive causes and for those in the margins.
Kathleen Murphy (she/her/hers) is an active member of Second Presbyterian Church in her hometown of Richmond, VA. Her life in the James River watershed includes running and being active, creating art, attending events and festivals, and working in nutrition policy for high poverty schools. Justice for the poor, hungry, and marginalized are especially close to her heart.
